Miryan Klein
“Behind her apparent gentleness, Miryan is an Amazon dancing on a volcano.” Olivier Marro's phrase says it all: in painting, sculpture and installation, her work turns upon our lives “the gaze of a child who watches the world with infinite curiosity.”
“A sensitive screen and witness of her time,” she looks at society as it is: the anonymous multitude of La Foule, overconsumption, mixed heritage, nature under threat. “Miryan denounces nothing, she passes no judgment: she observes.” She does not transgress, she transmutes, with humor and without fatalism, “sounding the alarm yet whispering hope, sailing between rhetoric and lyricism.”
Her experiments with unusual materials such as rubber, neon, plastic film, resin, stainless steel, aluminum, Plexiglas and bubble wrap give her works a sculptural presence. “The first merit of these pieces is the impact of their questioning on the viewer. Their intrinsic value emerges on a second reading, in a poetic mode,” writes Mia Goossens.
Miryan Klein's work is held in public collections, including the Château-Musée Grimaldi in Cagnes-sur-Mer and the Copelouzos Museum in Athens, as well as in foundations and private collections internationally. In Belgium, she is represented by Art Point Gallery International.
